Fort Benning is the sixth largest military installation in the United States with the third highest density of troops. You'll find approximately 80,000 soldiers train at Fort Benning each year, and more than 100,000 soldiers, their families, veterans, civilians and contract personnel live, work, play and use services on the installation every day. The job covers more than 182,000 acres, mostly in Georgia, and about 12,000 acres along the Chattahoochee River in Alabama.

There are several small and regional airports near Fort Benning, but the closest major hub is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia. Columbus City Airport is less than 20 miles from the post office. It's a quick trip from the airport to Fort Benning but direct flight options are limited. All new soldiers or service members traveling to Fort Benning on PCS orders should report to the Deployment Replacement Center in Ridgway Hall (Building 35), room 239 on the second floor, during business hours (0600 to 1600 Monday to Friday). The Visitor Center processes visitors who have already received support from postal workers. Those not pre-sponsored should expect long delays or arrange to meet their sponsor at the gate.
