Lax To Seal Beach

Lax To Seal Beach

Seal Beach, with a population of about 25,000, is located about 38 miles east of LA and is right between Long Beach and Huntington Beach.

Airport Shuttle To Lax

Whether you're flying into Orange County Airport (SNA) or LAX, Seal Beach is about a 25-30 minute drive from either airport, roughly the same distance between them. Of course, if you're in Southern California, you can just hop in the car and drive—it's not far from anywhere in SoCal.

Once you get into town, you'll want to head to the main square and park in the metered lot.

At one end of Main Street is the famous Pacific Coast Highway (the best road in California!) and the opposite end of this half-mile stretch is Pier Seal Beach.

Everything between these two points is considered the main street, which has excellent taste and is full of unique shops, great people-watching and delicious restaurants.

Cool Things To Do In Seal Beach, California

There aren't many accommodations in Seal Beach, but luckily you don't have to choose because the best is clear: Hotel Ayres!

The lobby is truly grand and classic with a pleasant library atmosphere and the rooms are simple, modern and spacious. Plus, a heated pool on site! Best of all, the price is right!

Another good choice is the Pacific Inn. The exterior is nothing special, but the rooms are beautifully designed in soothing blue hues that evoke the ocean just a few blocks away. The rooms are spacious and have a balcony, air conditioning, WiFi and more.

If they book those two, there's always the Hampton Inn & Suites Seal Beach, but honestly, it's nothing special and the price is very similar to the Ayres Inn or the Pacific Inn, which definitely offer better value.

In 1913, they changed their name to Seal Beach, after the seals that once frequented its picturesque beach.

Other areas tried to get rid of their seals because they were a nuisance and ate all the fish, but Seal Beach welcomed the seals to the area and got its new name!

If fishing isn't your thing, spend some time watching through the periscope (bring extra coins and some disinfectant to use!) or sit on one of the benches to enjoy the beautiful sunset and breathe in the fresh sea air.

At Seal Beach, you will find baby seals everywhere! Street signs have little stamp emblems, trash cans have stamp designs, the lower pier playground has merry-go-rounds for kids... the list goes on and it can be fun to see as many as you can. in town again.

The biggest 'catch', so to speak, is a selfie with 'Slick', a bronze statue found at the entrance to the pier.

The Slick is on a pedestal and sits about 4 feet off the ground. Children often climb on it, parents take pictures of their family next to it to mark a memorable trip, and some even poke it in the nose or kiss it like the Blarney Stone in Ireland! (This is not recommended in the context of 2020...)
