While I was in South Carolina last month for a gunsmith convention, I got to shoot a Canik TP9 like the Canik TP9SFX we have here. I'm in line at the Century Arms range but wanted to try this 9mm so I waited my turn. My son is interested in this and I want to tell him how he was shot. I was not ashamed. The dashed curve and red dot combine to make this a fun gun. But what is Canik, I hear you ask? Let's check.

Canik Sfx Review

Canik (pronounced, believe it or not, like: âCAN-ikâ) is a Turkish gunsmith. The actual factory is near a rock called, appropriately, Canik - the name means "protected place". The company has been working in the defense and space industry for almost 20 years, and since 2009 has been engaged in the production of firearms.

Being a player in the field of aerospace engineering and manufacturing has led to partnerships with Lockheed Martin, Airbus and Boeing. However, this is where the company's arms industry began - technology from space was used to create a series of polymer-framed (TP) guns that were eventually adopted by the Turkish security forces.

In 2012, Canik partnered with Century Arms to bring their guns to the US market. Many people received weapons, as did the company. Ballistic magazine named the Canik an Editor's Choice in the Key/Value Pistol category. In 2019, the TP9 Elite Combat Rifle was introduced and developed by Salient Arms International. The company is definitely here to stay and they make some very good guns.

So... what does Canik do? Let's take a walk through their website online as we get a quick overview of their 9mm pistols. Their guns are divided by purpose: for self-defense or competition. It is clear which camp the weapons fall into... the "good" ones are for combat, and the rest are for self-defense.

Want more than just SA? Here is the TP9DA, DA/SA version, with a decocker. You can see jewelry in front of the rear sight. A nice touch is the adaptation of what is normally a shock fire system to the player's rifle. Price: $404.99.

Here we move on to the Primo competition rifles made by Canik. I have drawn a picture of the TP9 Elite Combat With Vortex Viper Red Dot Rifle, the top of the line rifle. However, this gun has basically all the features that Canik makes on a gun. These include an improved trigger, an attractive H&K-style cylinder release, a well-baked magazine well, a thin stock, a Vortex dot sight, and an extended magazine release. If you want to get the most out of it, here you go.

Suggested Prices for Elite Pistols: Prices start at $429.99 for the smaller pistols and go up to $949.99 for this model. They seem to have a weapon for almost any budget. If they all end up like the one I shot today, I'd say they deserve it.

And, if those guns seem too big to carry around, there are smaller models available... the 15+1 is a compact that packs what it comes with... $439.99.

Our test sample included 20 rounds (2), a Tasco red dot and an old Lone Wolf brake attached to one of their barrels. From what I can tell, Canik isn't showing any SFX models with a trigger, so I'm guessing the barrel is a lone wolf as well.

This is a MecGar 18 round magazine with a âPlus 2â plate. These can be purchased from Canik for $34.95, subject to availability.

Let's take a look at the frame... we will notice that it is very well made. The casting is sharp, as are the metal tools…

One feature you can't see very well from the side, but is the extended magazine release. It's easy to find by holding the gun at the range. It was raised about ½ inch.

It is well made, no extraneous marks, the flash has a cutting edge with a red stripe. Four plates are included, so you're not limited as to which red marker will work here.

Here's a close-up image on the right. It's interesting that the lid has a thin thread instead of the standard one - this is a gift that became addictive.

Finally, hold on. I am happy with the âtackinessâ created by the built-in dash. I'm someone who likes to wear my gun to get the equivalent of 60-grit carborundum paper in terms of texture. I wasn't disappointed here, but it was still fun.

Sit down and let me shoot him. However, not everyone - I wanted a few larger 9 mm to jump out of my hands. It was on best behavior.

General Purpose: A handweight consisting of a cast Lee 124-gran RN bullet powder-coated with 4.8 grains of Long Shot powder. This stuff is usually accurate on every 9mm I shoot it on, but it's not so good here. At least on paper the 20 yard hole…

Under the hood I have a 115 grain FMJ. It's a bit better and will need more testing. In fact, a large hole was made in one of the improvised devices - I must have shot at the wrong target. If you take that out of the mix, Fiocchi is pretty good, really. That's over an inch at 20 yards - not a bad situation. I love this dynamic workout.

When the ammo comes back as soon as possible, you owe it to yourself to check it out. It is inexpensive and works well as a tool.

Canik Tp9sfx Review

The buckle has a little bit of carry, but it breaks pretty well, which is a plus. Safe fire on the face of something that might hit your finger and eventually lead to a blister, but this cashier's face is smooth - it doesn't bother me. I honestly can't think of anything I didn't like about shooting this gun. It balances well in the hand and its good grip helps you find your balance.

I'm not usually the best shooter in the game, so when I get a good team I keep that in mind. This gun is built for competition - for that reason it needs to be great. I was a little concerned when I saw that the gun was marked with a Tasco red dot - I haven't used any of those from that company. I am familiar with Tasco scopes, but not with their red dot. In any case, he spent time and worried about it - the scope worked very well.

On the other side, there are up and down arrows that highlight or highlight a point and turn it off:

I saw that it contains a lock on the back to prevent it from accidentally coming out and using the battery. It was simple, but it worked. This puts the projectile a bit on target, but it's easy to adjust. It's not my gun so I won't do it, but it's a quick fix. I know this review isn't about the visuals, but I thought you might be interested in learning more about it.

According to the Tasco website, the $89.99 ProPoint is the most expensive of the three red dots they sell. This allowed me to hit the target much faster than if I was using metal sights - we all know that. However, since the rear sight is removed, there is no way to measure the difference in sight acquisition time between the iron dot and the red dot, even if it is scientifically possible to do so, which I am not aware of. Are you looking for a ready-to-view competitive 9mm? Need to save a few bucks? Do you want to be available in different finishes? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then I think you might want to check out the TP9 series of pistols. However, this gun I borrowed has a red dot and a brake, but that shouldn't stop you. Canik sells shotguns with rifled cases and Vortex muzzles already installed - all you have to do is spend about $50 on a muzzle break if you're looking for a replica of the rifle we have here.

If you want to get into the arms race, this is a great way to do it. Canik guns are well built, but they don't kill your arms and legs. Shooters around the world use them illegally
